New Year's Evolutions: An Empowered Approach to an Old Tradition

By: Stephen Grose, Spiritual Teacher at Psychic Awakenings

If you’re like a lot of people, you may have made some New Year’s resolutions on January 1st.  As we enter the second month of the year, the question is:  How is it going?  If you’ve given up already or noticed that you aren’t acting consistently on your quest for change, now is a great time to shift your approach.

A New Year, A New You
A New Year’s resolution has the connotation of an end result; something to be resolved. In this we set ourselves up for disappointment if the expected result is not met. Having a New Year’s Evolution is creating the intent that you will evolve yourself in some way without pigeonholing yourself into an evolutionary dead end (a finite goal which you might fall short of or might limit yourself from going even bigger with your intention).

Learning To Work in Conjunction with the Universe
Before we create our New Year’s Evolutions (an Evolutionary Idea) let’s talk about how our lives are created. We create our lives in conjunction with the Universe. We vibrate with thoughts and feelings that send out signals to the Universe. The Universe picks them up and responds back with more of the same, like an echo. “I want to lose weight.” is a nice thought about losing weight, but the emotional attachment is probably one of dissatisfaction, or unhappiness. If you are feeling ‘icky’ about your thought, it would behoove you to change it to something you can feel a positive emotion about (enthusiasm, joy, excitement, etc.). An emotional vibration of joy will echo back experiences that give you more joy, while sending out dissatisfied feelings the same vibration will come back to give you more of the same. Now that we are familiar with how the Universe responds to our emotional vibration and that we must be aware of our emotional reaction to our thoughts, we can start creating our Evolutionary Ideas.

Creating your New Year’s Evolutions
At first it starts with a thought similar to a resolution: “I want to lose weight” or “I want a raise at work.”
Let’s break these down into the most basic thoughts that don’t involve a goal and induce a positive or neutral emotion: “I want to feel confident with my body.” or “I want an increase in my monetary abundance.”

You can use these two methods to bring your Evolutionary Idea to fruition:

1)       Phrase the Evolutionary Idea as a question with the intent of receiving guidance.

Examples: “How can I feel more confident with my body?” or “How can I increase my monetary abundance?”

When you are thinking about your Evolutionary Idea, put it into the form of a question with the intent of receiving an answer *but* let go of all attachment to what the answer ‘should’ be or how long it takes for the answer to come to you. The more you hold restrictions in your head about time frame and the “how’s” the more your slow down the speed of your manifestation.

2)       Sit down and center yourself with whatever techniques work for you (breath work, music, running, meditation, etc.). From here imagine yourself, in present time, experiencing your Evolutionary Idea.
Really imagine yourself feeling positive emotions about your Evolutionary Idea for at least 30 seconds. At the beginning this will be more abstract because the Universe hasn’t yet provided you with the details on how it will happen.

Example 1: Feeling more confident with your body. Imagine yourself sitting where you are (easy, right?!) and just feel confident. Channel the feeling of confidence in relation to your physical body. Just feel it and then when you have done so for at least 30 seconds just feel grateful and let it go and continue on with your day.

Example 2: Having more monetary abundance. This imagining can be a little more detailed. Imagine your life with more monetary abundance. You don’t have to focus on *how* the abundance of money will come into your life, just how your life looks with the extra cash flow. Imagine yourself feeling relief, confidently paying bills ahead of schedule. Taking vacations and staying at nice hotels, or buying that new gaming console you have your eye on. Feel the joy and excitement and relief you feel as you can easily spend your abundance of money. Do this for at least 30 seconds and then end it with feeling gratitude and continue on your merry way.

Focus on Each New Step and not the Destination
As you move through your daily life, alert for signs from the Universe, continue to take breaks in the day to vibrate emotionally as if you are already experiencing your Evolutionary Idea. When the signs come, be it articles and posts on your Newsfeed, or friends offering advice, or inspirations of spontaneity, roll with them. Test them out and see how you feel about them. If they are in alignment with your Evolutionary Idea and give you feelings of excitement, joy, relief, and/or happiness, keep going with it! Add this to your vibrational time outs. Add the activity into your imagining of your Evolutionary Idea. Keep this in your vibration and actions unless you stop feeling positive feelings about it.

Suddenly You’ve Arrived
One day you will wake up and have your Evolutionary Idea. The path there may not have been clear at first, but looking back it made so much sense! From here you can start a new Evolutionary Idea for yourself! Evolve yourself and your life experience through joy and excitement; avoid negative feelings as much as possible while not beating yourself up about having negative feelings from time to time.
